One home. One app. Everything talking.
Phoenix Smart designs and installs intelligent lighting, heating, security and entertainment as a single coherent system, wired by qualified electricians, so it's as reliable at year ten as it was on day one.
Lighting that sets the scene. Heating that reads the room.
Good smart lighting isn't about colour-changing bulbs, it's about scenes. One press for "evening": hallway dims to 30%, kitchen task lights hold, garden uplighters fade in. "Goodnight" from your bedside turns everything off and arms the perimeter. We design the scenes around how your household actually moves through the day, then wire dimming circuits, keypads and sensors to deliver them silently and instantly.
Heating gets the same treatment. Room-by-room zoning with smart TRVs or wired manifold control means the nursery holds 20° while the spare room idles at 16°, and geofencing warms the house for your arrival rather than heating it all day for nobody. Paired with our solar and battery installations, your heating can even prioritise the hours when your electricity is cheapest or free.
- Scene-based lighting design: keypads that replace banks of switches with one elegant panel.
- Presence & daylight sensing: lights that respond to people and sunlight, not just timers.
- Zoned heating control: per-room schedules, open-window detection and holiday modes.
- Blinds & shading: motorised blinds woven into scenes: privacy at dusk, solar shading in summer.
Know who's at the door, from anywhere on earth.
Security is where smart technology earns its keep daily. We install video doorbells and full video-entry systems that ring your phone wherever you are; smart locks and keypad entry that end the spare-key-under-the-pot era; and CCTV with on-device AI that tells you "person at side gate" instead of pinging you for every cat.
For apartment blocks, offices and commercial premises we deliver full access control: fob, keypad, mobile-credential and ANPR-based entry with per-user permissions, time schedules and full audit trails. Cleaners get access 6-9am weekdays; contractors get a code that expires Friday; you get a log of every door event.
- Video entry & intercoms: single dwellings to multi-unit door panels with concierge integration.
- Intruder alarms: wired and hybrid systems with app arming, pet-immune sensors and monitored options.
- Access control: standalone doors to networked multi-site systems with full audit logging.
- CCTV done lawfully: coverage designed with privacy zones and signage so your system helps you, not a tribunal.
Smart is nice. Safe is essential.
Because Phoenix is an electrical engineering company first, life safety is integrated into our smart designs rather than bolted alongside them. Interlinked smoke and heat detection to BS 5839-6 comes as standard in our residential systems, and when an alarm triggers, the smart layer goes to work: every light in the escape route snaps to full brightness, blinds open, and your phone is alerted even if you're abroad.
For commercial and multi-occupancy buildings we design and install addressable fire alarm systems to BS 5839-1, covered in depth on our compliance pages, and tie them into access control so doors release on alarm exactly as your fire strategy requires.
- Interlinked smoke, heat & CO detection: mains-powered with battery backup, phone alerts included.
- Escape-route lighting scenes: automatic full-brightness pathways on alarm activation.
- Leak detection: sensors under sinks, tanks and boilers that shut the smart valve before the ceiling comes down.
- Alarm-to-access integration: maglocks and controlled doors fail-safe in line with your fire strategy.
The invisible infrastructure that makes it all feel effortless.
Whole-home audio
Ceiling speakers and multi-room amplification from Sonos and beyond, music that follows you from kitchen to garden, controlled from the same keypads as your lights.
Cinema & media rooms
Projector and screen installs, acoustic treatment advice, and one-button "movie" scenes that dim lights, drop blinds and cue the amplifier.
Structured cabling
Cat6a data points to every TV, desk and access point. Wireless is for convenience; the backbone of a reliable smart home is copper in the walls.
Whole-home Wi-Fi
Professionally surveyed mesh and access-point networks that kill the dead spots, because every smart device is only as good as its connection.
Energy dashboards
See solar generation, battery state, EV charging and consumption per circuit in one view, and let the system shift loads to the cheapest hours.
Racks & tidy heads
Every system terminates in a labelled, ventilated equipment rack with documented patching, so any engineer, ever, can service it in minutes.
Designed around your life, not our catalogue.
Discovery visit
We walk your home or plans with you, talking routines rather than gadgets: how you wake, cook, entertain, travel and sleep.
System design
A written proposal with a system schematic, per-room functionality and a phased pricing structure, start with lighting, add later without rework.
Install & program
First fix alongside your build or discreet retrofit, then programming and scene-tuning with you present until it feels right.
Handover & tweaks
Full documentation, family walkthrough, and a free tuning visit after 30 days of living with it, because real life always refines the design.
Smart home questions, answered properly
Both. New builds and renovations let us wire the ideal backbone, but modern wireless ecosystems make finished homes very achievable: smart dimmer modules fit behind your existing switches, radiator valves replace TRV heads, and battery keypads stick where you want them. A typical retrofit needs far less disruption than people fear, often no redecorating at all.
We're deliberately platform-agnostic. For wired whole-house projects we favour open standards like KNX and strong ecosystems like Loxone and Lutron; for retrofits we design around Matter-compatible devices so your system outlives any single manufacturer. Our recommendation always comes with the reasoning written down, so you're choosing, not being sold.
Everything essential keeps working. We design for local control: switches still switch, heating still heats, scenes still run from keypads, and your alarm still arms. The internet adds remote access and voice control on top, it is never the foundation. This is the single biggest difference between a professionally designed system and a pile of cloud gadgets.
Not the way we build it. Your smart devices live on a segregated network, cameras and locks use encrypted connections with two-factor authentication, default passwords are eliminated on day one, and we configure automatic firmware updates. We'll also happily walk you through exactly what data each device does and doesn't send home.
That's exactly how we design. Most clients start with lighting or security in key rooms, and our proposals are explicitly phased so later additions plug into the same backbone with no rework. If a builder's already on site, we'll advise on inexpensive first-fix cabling now that keeps every future option open.
